The best road trips involve breath-taking scenery, the perfect playlist and lashings of breaks for drinks. Take time out from the drive and quench your thirst with a Hillbilly Cider – the tipple that the Bilpin locals love.
Shane McLaughlin’s work in the world-renowned cider regions of Normandy, Hereford and Somerset have stood him in good stead, gaining Hillbilly both local and international cider awards.
Shane uses a combination of heritage cider and eating apples to produce a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic ciders, including a farmhouse style Scrumpy; a vintage cider fermented in French oak – Hillbilly’s homage to Champagne, and the distinctive Sweet Julie cider.
Winner of the ‘Best in Class’ sweet cider award at the Aussie cider awards, Sweet Julie is the only cider in the world made from Bilpin’s Julie apple.
No road trip is complete without souvenirs and like all good things, Hillbilly is unique and hard to find once you leave the Blue Mountains, make sure you stock up before you hit the road again.
