Go fruit picking less than 2 hours from the city! Bilpin’s Pine Crest Orchard has been growing strong for 40 years. Whether you’re on a family road trip or enjoying a day out with your mates, apple picking is a great way to support local producers and experience nature.
Pine Crest Orchard is a lovely place to while away the day. The Orchard grows ten varieties of apples which are available for picking from early January to May. Varieties include Tydemans, Akane, Gala, Jonathon, Delicious and Golden Delicious. Last but not least in the apple picking season are the Fuji, Granny Smiths and Pink Lady varieties.
Although Apples are the main crop that the Orchard grows, you’ll also find Plums, Nectarines, Peaches and Persimmon depending on when you go.
The Orchard is a family-run business with Orchardist and Horticulturalist, John Galbraith at the helm. John has taught horticulture and farming at Uni’s and TAFE, and his knowledge and skill is evident in the abundance and varieties of fruit in the orchards.
If you grew up in the city and always wanted to pick your own fruit straight from the tree, Pine Crest Orchard will have you living the dream in no time.
